Abstract
The purpose of this study is focused on relationship of intensity, duration, and frequency searched from exercise habits with inflammatory markers and bone mineral density in obese college females. The total number of subjects of this study was 113 college females of S women’s university located in Seoul, and the subjects were selected by random cluster sampling method. 4 questions for exercise habits were selected out of questionnaire for lifestyle by Heyward. Various rating scale to measure the type of answers were re-categorized by 5 stage likert scale. Man to man survey to subjects were performed and exercise habits of the subjects for recent 3 months were recorded. Analysis of multiple correlation and analysis of simple regression were used to analyze relation of exercise habits with inflammatory markers (TNR-α, CRP) and bone mineral density (T-score). Inflammatory markers (TNF-α, CRP) have negative relation with exercise habits, but the relation is non-significant in statistical analysis. Bone mineral density (T-score) has proportional relation with intensity and duration, but the relation is non-significant in statistical analysis. And T-score has significant proportional relation with frequency(p<.01). It is necessary to remind the importance of exercise for women health promotion, and to provide institutional support for regular every day exercise. Especially for women who have large interest in loss of bone mineral density, it is necessary to recognize that more frequent, i.e. steady exercise is the best way to lead to the positive result in bone mineral density. For further study, it is necessary to understand exercise habits of various body compositions as well as obesity of women, and to analyze thoroughly the relation between several observed variables.
