- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of bone mineral density and eating disorder in Korean dancers.
Female Korean dancers(n=186) were participated in this study. The tendency of eating disorder observed by eating disorder inventory-3 questionnaire(Garner, 2004). Bone mineral density was measured by Quantitative Ultra Sonography(QUS), and participants were classified as normal (T-score > -0.99: n=51) and osteopenia (T-score between -0.1 and -0.25: n=135) following WHO guidelines. Statistical analysis in frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis(varimax), analysis of covariance, were performed with adjustment of age, weight, career, regular or irregular of menstrual period, and age at menarche. All statistical procedures were performed by SPSS(Ver 12.0) windows. There was a significant difference between normal and osteopenia female Korean dancers about the excessive diet but there were no significant differences on psychological decline, behavior of overreacting and sensitivity of body shape.
