- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate how basketball players perceived the coach-player relationship factor on the groundwork of Kelly & Thibaut's mutual dependence theory as social psychological aspect in sport. Nine woman basketball players were individually interviewed in depth with player's direct perspective according to three types of situation practice, tournament, general. Response date was categorized into common context and then context was analyzed inductively. As a result, 230 raw data was categorized into 8 sub-division which were trust, respect, conversation, encouragement, complement, team atmosphere, cooperation, and skill & strategy and into four general division which were intimacy, interest, complementarity, and professionalism. Each relationship factor according to situation was variously presented, conceptualizing personal connection and interpreting it as a series of coach-player social-psychological process. This result showed that in sport context, coach-player's interdependency is essential and what they perceive from their relationship helps them to carry on their role and responsibility. In addition, the relationship between variables such as the form, level, and cultural aspect of sport was discussed.
