The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of six-week Korean circle dance program (3times/week, 60min/day, 40-60%HRR) on body composition, blood lipids, and fitness factors on each type of ACE gene polymorphism. For this purpose, 19 female seniors between 65 and 71 years old were classified into the following groups based on their ACE gene types : II-Type (6 persons), ID-Type (8 persons), and DD-Type (5 persons). The Korean dance program was performed three times a week at 40% - 60% HRR. The results are as follows; First, Body weight and %body fat were significantly decreased in all groups (II-Type, ID-Type, and DD-Type) after six weeks(p<.05). Second, lean body mass was increased significantly in the ID-Type group(p<.05) and TC was decreased significantly in all three groups(p<.05). Third, there were significant differences on muscle strength among the groups in the order to ID>DD>II (p<.05) and muscle endurance was increased significantly in II-Type and ID-Type groups (p<.05). Fourth, cardiorespiratory endurance was increased significantly in all groups (II-Type: p<.001, ID-Type: p<.01, and DD-Type: p<.05) and was shown significant differences among the three groups in the order to II>ID>DD (p<.05). The research suggests that Korean circle dance program gives positive effects on the body composition and blood lipid profiles in different ACE gene types. Also it gives positive effects on the fitness factors such as muscle endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance and muscle strength. In particularly, muscle strength was increased greater in D type groups (ID-Type and DD-Type) than II-Type group, whereas cardiopulmonary endurance was increased higher in I-type group than the others. Because exercise and genetic factors influence muscle strength and cardiorespiratory endurance enhancement. In conclusion, Korean dance programs for elderly people will be considered by genetic factors for effective physical fitness improvements.-
