다문화청소년의 문화적응 스트레스가 진로결정성에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감과 우울의 이중매개효과

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 다문화청소년의 문화적응 스트레스가 진로결정성에 종단적인 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고, 그 경로에서 자아존중감과 우울이 이중매개효과를 갖는지에 대해 검증하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 2차 자료분석방법을 활용하여 다문화청소년패널조사(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study) 3차-6차년도에 참여한 1,307명 청소년자료를 분석하였다. 구조방정식모형분석을 실시한 결과, 첫째, 다문화청소년의 문화적응 스트레스는 진로결정성에 직접적인 영향을 미치지는 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 문화적응 스트레스는 자아존중감을 매개로 진로결정성에 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 문화적응 스트레스는 또한 우울을 매개로 진로결정성에 영향을 미쳤다. 마지막으로, 부트스트래핑과 팬텀변수 모델링 분석 결과, 자아존중감과 우울이 문화적응스트레스의 영향을 순차적으로 매개하여 진로결 정성에 영향을 미치는 이중매개효과를 알 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 다문화청소년이 초등 6학년 시기에 경험한 문화적응 스트레스가 중학교 1학년의 자아존중감에 부정적인 영향을 미치고, 이것이 중학교 2학년 시기의 우울에 영향을 미쳐, 중학교 3학년 시기에 이르러 진로결정성에 부정적인 영향력을 지닌다는 것을 확인한 것이다. 본 연구는 이를 바탕으로 다문화청소년을 위한 정책적, 실천적 함의를 도출하였다.

This study aims to examine if acculturative stress among multicultural adolescents longitudinally influences career determination. Also, it is to verify the double-mediation effects of self-esteem and depression in the relation between acculturative stress and career determination among multicultural youths. Using secondary data analysis method, we analyzed data from the 3rd through 6th waves of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study(MAPS) in which 1,307 adolescents participated. Firstly, the results of the analysis of structural equation modeling showed that acculturative stress did not directly affect career determination. Secondly, self-esteem had a mediation effect on the relationship between acculturative stress and career determination. Thirdly, depression also played a mediating role in the relationship between acculturative stress and career determination. Lastly, in terms of the analysis of bootstrapping and phantom variable modeling, we found the double-mediation effects of self-esteem and depression on career determination. It was identified that acculturative stress experienced in the early 6th grade of elementary school negatively affects self-esteem in the 1st grade of middle school. It has an effect on multicultural adolescents' depression in the 2nd grade of middle school, which consequently leads to have a negative impact on career determination when multicultural youths are in the 3rd grade of middle school. Based on these results, policy and practical implications for multicultural youths were discussed.
