- Abstract
- In theoretical terms, this study aims to examine a more adequate way to understand and to offer new insights for the reconstruction agenda, especially when it comes donor intervention in the African continent. Chinese leaders are constantly changing and accommodating their own efforts and have been formulating and legitimizing the perspective on post-conflict peacebuilding. With respect to UN initiatives, the Chinese government is expected to continue to search for consensus with Western powers, individual African governments, and other emerging leaders in the forging the new paradigm. Largely helped by the shift in and interweaving with major donors’ paradigms, it has been well recognized in academic circles over the past half a decade that previous debates on post-conflict reconstruction intervention have clearly culminated in development, but have also resurfaced a decades-old discussion about the links between humanitarian action, development, and peace efforts, the so-called “triple nexus.” In this regard, this paper firstly examines the essence of theoretical debates on post-conflict reconstruction by intervention and takes a look at the way ahead for interweaving policy directions while also analyzing the Chinese experience against the traditional liberal approach of the Western countries and the UN circle.
