- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to consider the potentiality of art education from a viewpoint of art therapy. Especially, the focal point of this study is to clear the process of creativity in artistic expressions in healing, art and education.
The healing ability of art has been mainly developed in the field of art therapy. We, who are involved in art education, have to re-examine the essential meanings of creativity in art education and healing in art therapy in order to develop the reciprocal assistant relationship between art education and art therapy. Both of them are an indispensable power for our total change.
It is very important that we have a suitable way to express ourselves or communicate our thoughts or feelings to a person. It is also important that we take an objective view of ourselves in the process and result of our expressions, because it is necessary in daily life to look back on what we have done and to keep our mental balance. In this sense, art is not for just some talented person, but for all of us, living.
In this study, I tried to find an essential common point between art education and art therapy in order to achieve children's freedom of self-expression.
