사립 유치원의 특별활동 실태와 문제점

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 사립 유치원에서 실시되고 있는 특별활동의 실태와 특별활동을 지원하고 있는 원장, 교사, 부모의 인식을 조사하여 특별활동의 문제점을 파악하는데 있다. 전국 1700개 사립 유치원의 원장, 교사, 부모를 대상으로 특별활동의 실태와 인식을 조사하였다. 연구결과 대상 유치원의 90%이상이 한가지 이상의 특별활동을 실시하고 있었고, 특별활동이 정규일과를 대치하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 원장, 교사, 부모 모두 특별활동을 필요하다고 인식하고 있는데서 기인하고 있는 것으로 보이고 이러한 인식은 유치원의 학원식 교육을 부추기고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

This study surveyed so-called extracurricular activities in private kindergartens and analyzed perceptions of kindergarten directors, teachers, and parents to these activities. Questionnaire were mailed to 1700 private kindergartens. Ninety-seven percent of the responses reported doing the extracurricular activities in their kindergartens. Most of extracurricular activities were done during regular school hours and replaced regular activities in kindergartens. The increasing emphasis on the extracurricular activities in private kindergartens were related to director, teachers, and parents’ perception to them. These adults perceived extracurricular activities as necessary activities in kindergartens, although their reasons were different. The phenomena that the private kindergartens transform their function into Hakwon(private institute) education jeopardizes the foundation of early childhood education.
