- Abstract
- Raman spectra of insulating and untwinned superconducting (Tc=66K, Tc=90K) YBCO single crystals corrected for optical absorption were compared. A strong background continuum exists in the insulating crystals. Intensity of this continuum remains unchanged in the superconducting crystals when incident and scattered photon polarizations are perpendicular to the chains. A stronger continuum is observed in the superconducting crystals when incident and scattered photons are polarized parallel to the chains.
