- Abstract
- The ethyl acetate fraction of Gardenia jasminoides fruit (GJF) showed S-phase arrest of cell cycle in pancreatic cancer PANC-1 cells. GJF also reduced the levels of cell cycle regulatory proteins, such as cyclin B1, cyclin D1, and FoxM1, in PANC-1 cells and suppressed cell viability. Furthermore, the cell viability of PANC-1 cells was reduced by geniposide and 4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, which were detected in GJF by HPLC analysis. These results suggested that GJF has anti-proliferative activity via cell cycle arrest and regulation of cell cycle-related proteins in PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cells, and these effects of GJF might be partially attributed to geniposide and 4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid.
