Abstract

이 글은 디지털 전환기를 맞이하여 대학 글쓰기 교육이 요구받고 있는 성찰적 지점을 살폈다. 이에 기존 교육의 한계와 새로운 시대가 요청하는 포괄적 개념 및 가치를 이 글은 인문, 전통, 미래의 세 가지 포인트로 점검하였다. 이 글이 첫 번째 강조한 글쓰기의 ‘인문적 가치’는 작금의 대학 글쓰기 교육이 지속가능한 교육으로 자리잡기 위해 필요한 포괄적 개념이자 최소 원칙이다. 기존의 글쓰기 교육이 ‘왜 쓰는가’의 성찰과 생각을 만들어내는 힘을 우선으로 두지 않고 무엇을 쓸 것인가, 어떻게 쓸 것인가를 가르치기에 급급한 글쓰기 교육에 편중된 결과를 조정하고, 보완할 필요가 있다. 또한 이 글은 그간의 대학 글쓰기 교육이 놓친 귀중한 좌표로 ‘전통적 글쓰기 관습과 가치’를 주목하였다. 한국적 읽고 쓰기 맥락에 충실한 정서, 표현, 논리 전개 방식 등이 인지주의 계열의 외국 쓰기 이론, 논증 기반의 학술적 글쓰기 교육에서 소외되었던바, 이로부터 쓰기 주체의 쓰기에 대한 내적 동기, 열망, 다양한 글쓰기의 기회 자체가 축소됨으로써 그렇지 않아도 줄어드는 글쓰기 장을 더욱 폐쇄적으로 만들었다. 따라서 문식적 실천이 거의 없거나 쓰기 자체의 비중이 적은, 다양한 쓰기 경험이 제한된 교육을 지속하는 한 대학 글쓰기의 학문적 정체성 수립은 요원할 것이다. 마지막으로 이 글이 주목한 미래지향적 개념의 핵심은 글쓰기의 확장성이 갖는 ‘미래적 가치’이다. 글쓰기 개념의 확장이 절실하다는 판단 아래 디지털 리터러시를 통한 (비)문자 텍스트를 익히고 부리는 힘, 즉 디지털 리터러시와 확장적 글쓰기 개념이야말로 미래 교육이 지향해야 할 가치이다. 이상의 세 가지 포인트를 바탕으로 대학 글쓰기 교육의 구성요소로 구체화할 재구조화 작업이 필요하다.

This article examines the reflective point where university writing education is required in the face of digital transformation. Therefore, this article examines the limitations of existing education and the comprehensive concepts and values ​​required by the new era through three points: humanities, traditions, and the future. The 'humanity value' of writing emphasized first in this article is a comprehensive concept and minimum principle necessary for the current university writing education, which is confined to practical and instrumental writing education, to be established as a sustainable education. It is necessary to adjust and supplement the results of the existing writing education focused on teaching what to write and how to write without prioritizing the power to generate thoughts and reflection on ‘why to write’. In addition, this article focused on 'traditional writing practices and values' as valuable coordinates that have been missed by college writing education. There was a tendency to overlook the dynamism and specificity of the writing field, where Korean writing traditions and customs continued. Emotions, expressions, and logic development methods faithful to the Korean literacy context have been alienated from cognitive-based foreign writing theories and argument-based academic writing education. Opportunities themselves have been reduced, making the otherwise diminishing writing field more closed. Therefore, as long as education continues with little or no literacy practice or writing itself, with limited various writing experiences, it will be difficult to establish an academic identity for college writing. Lastly, the core of the future-oriented concept that this article focused on is the ‘future value’ of the scalability of writing. Under the judgment that the expansion of the concept of writing is urgently needed, the power to learn and use (non-)character text through digital literacy, that is, the concept of digital literacy and extended writing, is the value that future education should aim for. Therefore, based on the above three points, restructuring work is required to be materialized as a component of college writing education.
