일반계 고등학교 학업성취 수준에 따른 학교 특성 비교 : 랏소 로짓 모형을 활용하여

Abstract

본 연구는 학생의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 학교의 특성을 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 2019 국가수준학업성취도 평가 결과 나타난 고등학교 학생의 학업성취 수준을 기준으로 우수학력 학생과 노력요망 학생 비율이평균 이상인 학교를 각각 우수학력학교와 노력요망학교로 구분하고, 연구문제를 다음과 설정하였다. 첫째, 교과목별학업성취수준 우수학력학교와 노력요망학교를 예측하는 학교 특성 요인은 무엇인가? 둘째, 이 요인은 우수학력학교와노력요망학교 간 차이가 있는가? 이를 위해 2019년 국가수준 학업성취도 평가 결과와 학생, 교사, 교장 설문조사를분석자료로 활용하였다. 연구문제에 대한 답은 벌점화 회귀모형의 한 방법인 랏소 로짓 모형을 활용하여 분석하였다. 변수별 우수학력학교와 노력요망학교 간 학교특성 평균차이는 분석 결과에서 통계적으로 의미있는 것으로 나타난변수를 중심으로 제시하였다. 국어, 영어, 수학에서 공통적으로 우수학력학교와 노력요망학교 간 차이를 보여주는변수는 학부모 풍토(자녀의 학업성취 향상을 위한 학부모 요구), 기초생활수급대상자 수, 다문화가정 학생수, 학생의학교에 대한 긍정적 인식, 학교설립유형(국공립/사립), 학생 자율학습 시간 등이었다.

The study compares the characteristics of high-schools depending on students' academic achievement. To this end, based on the level of academic achievement of high school students, schools are divided into high-achieving and low-achieving schools. Research questions are set as follows. First, what are the predictors of high-achieving and low-achieving schools for reading, English, and mathematics? Second, what is the extent of the differences in the predictors between high-achieving and low-achieving schools? The 2019 National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) results and surveys from students, teachers, and principals are used for analysis. To find the school-level predictors, first, the LASSO logit model using the penalty regression model is applied. Second, the averages of high- and low-achieving school characteristics are compared. Characteristics that commonly exhit differences between high- and low-achieving schools in reading, English, and mathematics are the parent climate (request of parents to improve their children's academic achievement), the number of students from multicultural families, positive perception of schools, school types(public/private), and students’ self-study time, and so on.
