Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between intrinsic motivation and athletic self management in ball game athletes. A total of 168 active athletes were surveyed including 80 hockey athletes and 88 handball athletes. The age of the men are 21.74(SD=4.36), 19.54(SD=3.02)for the women. The study used adapted version of the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory(Ryan, 1980) and Athletic self management Questionnire(Huh, Kim, Yoo, 2001). Multivariate analyses of variance and two-way ANOVA were used for statistical analysis. The conclusions from the findings are; (1) intrinsic motivation and athletic self Management (2) intrinsic motivation was significantly different main effects according to gender and school career. also there are different interaction effects (3) athletic self management was significantly different main effects according to gender. also there are different interaction effects. The paper conclude with future decections for work on intrinsic motivation and athletic self management
