Abstract
종묘 개편(修宗廟) 이전 고구려의 종묘는 왕실만이 독점할 수 있는 배타적인 건축물이 아니었다. 따라서 여러 세력집단들도 자체적으로 종묘를 세울 수 있었다. 왕실 종묘에서는 태조왕계 군주들이 모셔졌으며, 신주는 조소상 형태였다. 종묘 개편 이후의 종묘는 왕실만이 향유하게 되었다. 여기에는 추모왕계 군주들까지 모셔졌으며, 世室과 不遷之主와 같은 구성 원리도 도입된 결과, 유교적인 색채가 강해졌다. 단 非禮的인 부분도 상존하고 있었다. 이는 고구려가 주체적으로 외래 문물을 받아들이고 있었음을 보여준다.
Before the reform of the ancestor’s shrine, not only the loyal family but other ruling groups also could build their own ancestor’s shrine. The royal shrines were built only in dedication to the kings in King Taejo’s family line, and their spirit tablets took the form of sculpture. The ancestor’s shrine became exclusive to the royal family after the reform; the spirit tablets of the kings in King Chumo’s family line also came to be kept in it, and the shrine system started to adopt the Confucian ideas and style. At the same time, however, we can see that it does not fit into the Confucian system in some ways. This demonstrates that Goguryeo both accepted and reinvented foreign culture.
