- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to compare the awareness of the four values of food ecological transformation education among elementary school students in higher grade according to whether they received food ecological transformation education in order to confirm the necessity and program requirements of food ecological transformation education. To confirm the effectiveness of food ecological transformation education, we conducted a survey of 191 elementary school students who received food ecological transformation education in some areas of Seoul, and 187 students who did not receive education. The collected data were analyzed through Chi-square test and t-test analysis using SPSS 28.0 statistical program. The study showed significant differences in food literacy, knowledge and attitude, carbon-neutral attitude, satisfaction with climate food, and amount of leftovers between students who received food ecological transformation education and those who did not, confirming the difference in awareness of the four values of food ecological transformation education. In addition, the demand for food ecological conversion programs related to co-prosperity was found to be high, indicating a high demand for education among leading schools. Particularly, it was necessary to develop various programs through cooperation with the local community to meet the high demand for community-linked programs. Currently, food ecological conversion education is in the initial stage and requires long-term education supported by the interest and support of various educational stakeholders to nurture food citizens desired by future society.
