Abstract
본 연구는 Chan과 Drasgow(2001)의 최근 연구에서 제안된 리더십 동기(motivation to lead)의 개념을 동기이론의 발현욕구이론(manifest needs theory; Murray, 1938) 관점에서 타당성을 확인하고, 나아가 사회적 역할이론(social role theory; Eagly 등, 2003)에 기초하여 리더십 모티베이션을 실현하는 과정에 있어서 나타날 수 있는 사회적 성차(gender difference)에 대한 분석을 시도하였다. 즉, 리더십 동기와 리더십 개발 열망(aspiration for leadership development)의 관계는 개인의 사회적 성차 지향성에 의해 조절될 것임이 제안되었다. 한국의 서울지역 대학생 159명으로부터 수집된 자료에 대한 회귀분석을 통해 (1) 리더십 동기에 대하여 발현욕구는 개인특성 요인과 가치지향성의 설명에 추가적으로 유의한 설명력이 있었다는 점과, (2) 여성 응답자에 대한 분석에서 사회적 여성성(femininity) 지향성이 리더십 동기와 리더십 개발열망의 관계를 조절함을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 우리 나라의 여성과 리더십, 특히 여성의 리더십 개발에 대한 중요한 이론적 시사점을 제공한다.
