- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to offer experimental data about the effects of 12 weeks of n3PUFA supplementation and regular exercise on obese risk factors. 12 college females were randomly assigned to one of two group, i.e., Group Ⅰ(n=6): placebo(3.6g/day); Group Ⅱ(n6): n3PUFA(3.6g/day) with regular exercise for 12 weeks. For regular exercise, aerobic exercise is performed 15 to 35 minutes at the strength of 40 to 70% of the HRmax 3 times a week. The resistance movement was performed at the strength of 60 % to 70 % of the 1RM 3 times a week, with 3 sets of 10 to 13 repetitions. The SPSS was used to analyze the results of experiment, and Analysis of Covariance(ANCOVA) was used. The analysis showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups, IL-6 and leptin. CRP and TNF-a did not produce a statistically significant difference between the two groups. As a conclusion, it is likely that regular exercise and the extra n3PUFA intake will positively alter the concentrations of IL-6 and leptin in college females.
