- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between perfectionism tendency and subjective well-being and to identify the mediating effect of self-efficacy and perceived social support in the influence of perfectionism on subjective well-being. The survey was conducted with 533 participants who are students at universities located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First of all, there were statistically significant positive correlations between adaptive perfectionism and sub factors of subjective well-being which are positive emotion, satisfaction with life and self-efficacy and perceived social support. Meanwhile, maladaptive perfectionism and negative emotion which is a sub factor of subjective well-being showed a positive correlation, where as a negative correlations was identified between maladaptive perfectionism and self-efficacy and perceived social support. Second it was verified that self-efficacy carries out partial mediation when it comes to the relation between adaptive perfectionism and subjective well-being, and relation between maladaptive perfectionism and subjective well-being. Third, it was verified that perceived social support carries out partial mediation when it comes to the relation between adaptive perfectionism and subjective well-being, and relation between maladaptive perfectionism and subjective well-being.
