- Abstract
- This paper searches the educational contents of writing fictional narrative in Korean language education. As a field of the education of creative writing, the education of writing fictional narrative belongs to literature education, and literature education belongs to Korean language education. Many perspectives can be approached to solve the systematization of the educational contents of writing fictional narrative. In this paper, I tries to extract the educational contents of writing fictional narrative focusing the experience of world.
Students should recognize three worlds in mind to accomplish writing fictional narrative. I divide epistemic units of three worlds, so to speak, firstly ‘the actual world’, secondly ‘the possible worlds’, thirdly ‘the fictional world’. This figure is premise of this paper’s argument. I emphasize the experience of constructing world has the value of activity to make meaning of life. And I argue that writing fictional narrative is writing of synthesizing the two values, the reflection on life and the creation of life.
According to the above-mentioned logical premise, I investigate the process of experiencing worlds in writing fictional narrative through examining the phenomena of authors’ writing fictions(or novels). Firsltly they recognize the actual world in a critical mind. Secondly they searches the possible worlds to solve the problems of the actual world. Thirdly they embody the fictional world in narrative text. This process is the serial experiences of constructing world. In this argument, I investigate the materials to interpret authors’ writing fictions, for example, literary fictional works, essays confessing the experience of writing fiction, and the methodological theory to write fiction in Korea.
According to the above-mentioned result of argument in this paper, I construct the practical contents of performing the education of writing fictional narrative in Korean language education. The education of writing fictional narrative in class is performed by laying stress on students’ writing activity. Therefore the practical contents of performing the education of writing fictional narrative lay stress on students’ writing practice. Firstly ‘the reflecting on life’, ‘searching the counter-world’, ‘constructing the fictional narrative aesthetically’ These activities can be selected and manipulated by teacher as they may chance in classes.
