- Abstract
- This study concerns successive processes of the birth and political empowerment of the Free French that is regarded as an opponent of Vichy in the history of the French Resistance, the formation of the Gaullism of War which develops a political doctrine of its own, and the placement of De Gaulle as the symbol and chief of the French Resistance. In the aspect of three Resistances-De Gaulle(London), Resistance of the Interior(France), and Giraud(Algiers)-competing with each other from the appeal of June 18, 1940 to the unification of these resistant forces in June 1943, such processes correspond to those of the constant struggle of De Gaulle internally and externally lasted to the day he assumed the leadership of France on the historical stage of the Free French. In complex and diverse relations among resistant forces, the movements of De Gaulle make for the aim of constructing a new Republic on the ground of the republican tradition as well as of unifying all resistant forces through a steadfast manifestation of republic and democracy.
