The purpose of this study was to classify relevant variables affecting Abnormal Eating Attitudes in female adolescents and college students according to a group of risk factors and protective factors. And psychological factors, physical factors, and sociocultural factors were grouped to analyze their effect sizes comprehensively, identify the main variable within each factor, and identify the relative importance. Also, this study was conducted a meta-ANOVA analysis to determine the cause of the different effect sizes which appeared in each study. To do this, this study is a meta-analysis of 96 studies published in Korea between 2002 and 2018 on a topic of risk factors and protective factors for Abnormal Eating Attitudes in female adolescents and college students(k=260). Comparing the effect sizes on Abnormal Eating Attitudes by groups showed that risk factors had a greater effect size than protective factor and “Obsession and stress with appearance (k=24)” had the greatest effect size in psychological-related variables within risk factors, and “Mindfulness (k=1)” had the greatest effect size in psychological-related variables within protective factors. Lastly, as a result of the moderating effect test to identify the cause of the high heterogeneity with an effect size of the related variable group in the risk factor and the protective factor, the effect size of the risk factor group related physical variables showed a statistically significant difference according to the age of the study subjects. Also, the effect size of the whole risk factor showed a statistically significant difference according to the measurement tools. This study provided objective and practical basic data to help evidence-based decision in the counseling scene by analyzing the Abnormal Eating Attitudes expressed by various factors from an integrated point of view.
