The Mediating Effects of Social Support and Career Search Self-Efficacy on the Relation between Job-Seeking Anxiety and Career Adaptability among Undergraduate Students

This study was to examine the mediating effects of social support and career search self-efficacy on the relation between job-seeking anxiety and career adaptability. The targets for this study were 220 undergraduate students and the data were analyzed by SEM to verify the mediating effects. The results are as follows. First, job-seeking anxiety had a negative correlation with career adaptability. Second, job-seeking anxiety had negative correlations on social support and career search self-efficacy, and social support and career search self-efficacy had a positive correlation on career adaptability. Third, social support and career search self-efficacy had the complete mediating effects on the relation between job-seeking anxiety and career adaptability. The results of this study imply that it is significant to reduce job-seeking anxiety in the process of career adaptability and that it is necessary to enhance social support and career search self-efficacy to decrease job-seeking anxiety and to increase career adaptability. Implication for research and limits of this study were discussed.
