The purpose of this thesis it to analyze empirically the relationships among industrial characteristics variables and corporate characteristics variables, firm performance in Korean listed company panel datasets for 1999-2011. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, as a result of a correlation analysis how R&D investment of the current term affects firm performance, R&D investment of the current term showed meaningful negative affects statistically. However, R&D investment in the right former term and other prior terms showed meaningful positive affects statistically. Therefore, R&D investment in the past has positive effects on enterprise performance with a time difference. Second, educational investment has a negative effect on firm performance statistically. Educational investment in the current and past terms does not positively affect firm profits of the current term, which is different from the expectation that educational investment would affect firm profits positively. Third, in all the analysis models, several industrial characteristics(market concentration ratio, R&D intensity, R&D concentration ratio) positively effect firm performance.
