To date, the issues of aging and death in Korea have been mainly dealt from an acadamic psychological perspective. From a psychological perspective, ideal development taske are suggested at the stages of old age and death. A variety of educational programs are provided such as educational tasks required to enjoy old age sussessfully and death coping education for well-dying. However, with this typs of diagnosis and suggestion, it is difficult to fundamentally change our thoughts, perspectives and perceptions regarding the issues of aging and death. Therefore, Elias, sociologist, offers a new perspective on the issues of aging and loneliness in modern society through sociological diagnosis, not medical and psychological diagnosis. According to his diagnosis, immortal mythology in which young generations are immersed, and the unsanitary discourse of the elderly generation in society habe made it difficult to communicate and understand between generations on aging and death. In particular, the limitations of the physical aging experience of younger generations reveal the inherent difficulties of intergenerational communication. For this reason, Elias suggests that aging and death should be recognized as a process, not as a result. The task of pedagogy based on the diagnosis of Elias needs to pedagogically topicalize the finiteness of human beings and to place the importance of educational practice such as friendship and neighborhood at the center of educational thinking andd practice.
