초록
This study aims at suggesting some tactics for the translation of children's verse. As a whole, children poems, English ones or Korean ones, contain and show reiteration and rhythm. So reiteration and rhythm can be said to be unique characteristics in children verse. This study develops English-Korean and Korean-English translating methods of children verse, focusing on the reiteration and rhythm. This study is divided into the four parts:'same rhyme', 'same phrase', 'same line', and 'same stanza'. The four parts are cohesive features of children verse along with rhythms. Some children poems have so many repetitive rhymes and rhythms that they sound like 'nursery rhyme' or 'children song'. The 'same rhyme' is shown in both English verse and Korean verse, even though it appears in different aspects. 'Same phrase' and 'same line' are common in both English children verse and Korean children verse. So the two can be effective when they are translated into either English or Korean. Finally 'same stanza' is frequently used in Korean children verse, while it is less frequent in English children verse except for nursery rhyme. Even so, it is also effective in translating poems. The above four parts -'same rhyme', 'same phrase', 'same line', and 'same stanza'- are cohesive features in children's verse, and by using and translating the four parts effectively along with rhythm, we can produce ideal translated poems.
