초록

The purpose of this research study is to explore what a mother who decided to seek counseling for her daughter experienced in the decision-making process, and the significance of those experiences. For the research method, narrative inquiry as conceptualized by Connelly and Clandinin(2000), was used. Data were collected for four months from January to April 2015. The mother's experiences were reconstructed in narrative form. The mother's major concerns were “an emergency bell is ringing”, “she reviewed motherhood through a new lens”, “she accepted the need for counseling”, “a close friend who received counseling recommended counseling to the mother”, and ‘she realized that frequent urination may be due to psychological factors’. In conclusion, the mother's decision to seek counseling for her child was not a sudden decision but a continually changing process. Younseo's mother who decided to seek counseling for her daughter, desperately hopes that child counseling will be effective. She also decided that she will reflect on her role as mother, and she will evolve as a parent.
