초록

The purpose of this study is to compare the Chumsawi of Royal Dance with that of Folk Dance by Yin Yang and Five Elements. In this study, It is premised that Korean Dance, Chumsawi is based on the oriental ideology, and the Chuyongmu and the Bogsantalchum which are representatives of Chumsawi are compared. As the result of this study, in Yin Yang and Five Elements point of view, Folk Dance has larger movements than Royal Dance. The Chumsawi of Folk Dance has the biggest positive energy in fire Chumsawi which is ByoungHwa, and the smallest negative energy in water Chumsawi which is Gesu. For that reason, the Chumsawi of Folk dance looks like more dynamic than that of Royal Dance. There are many differences between the Chumsawi of Royal Dance and the Chumsawi of Folk Dance. Among them, the most significant difference is that the Chumsawi of Royal Dance is focused on the movements of the upper part of human body. Because Royal Dance was performed in front of King, the costumes are magnificent and heavy, which makes the Royal Dance more restrictive than Folk Dance. In conclusion, this study has devoted to establish a system for articulating principles of Korean Dance education and performed as an experimental work for the future development of Korean Dance.
