The Purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of Covert Narcissism on the relationship between Parenting Attitudes perceived by college students and Depressive Symptoms. The survey was conducted for 431 university students(224 men and 207 women) in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province. The measurement scales used were PBI, CES-D, and CNS. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 23.0 statistical program. To examine mediating effects of Covert Narcissism on the relationship between Parenting Attitudes perceived by college students and Depressive Symptoms, Baron and Kenny’s (1986) model was used. Lastly, Sobel test was used to verify the statistical validity of mediation effects. The results are as follows: First, Parental Care had significant negative effects on the Depressive Symptoms. Second, Parental Care had significant negative effects on the Covert Narcissism. Also, Parental Overprotection had significant positive effects on the Covert Narcissism. Third, Covert Narcissism had significant positive effects on the Depressive Symptoms. Fourth, Covert Narcissism mediated completely the link between Parental low Care and Depressive Symptoms. Furthermore, Covert Narcissism mediated completely the link between Parental Overprotection and Depressive Symptoms.
