초록

Korean society has encountered sudden changes regarding multicultural issues in recent years. Government was quick enough to take action regarding this issue but the intervention has not been based on public discourse on how we should accept and anticipate the changes concerning the multicultural aspect of the society. Multicultural policy programs has been initiated as if it were the problem of the migrants alone not involving the society as a whole. This paper suggests which principles should be regarded as most important in designing multicultural policy in Korea. Considering inclusiveness in policy targets, recognizing the relationship between non discriminative policy principle, emphasizing multicultural perspectives rather than multicultural clientele, and retaining long term vision in terms of cultural policy as a whole.
