초록
This article attempts to read the shape of the sound in “Sudden Shower” as Soundscape and reveal its meaning. To this end, this article defines the term so that Soundscape can be used as an analysis framework for novels, and attempts to examine how this concept plays a role in clarifying “Sudden Shower” in its relationship with previous studies. This article starts with the assumption that the author is building a rhetorical situation of sound to ask the reader to play the role of ‘listening’ as a listener. This is because this article believes that the effect of sound resulting from the relationship between the author and the narrative elements is an important method of description of the novel. This point supports the discussion in this article, assuming that the process of the reader listening to sound through literary imagination can be part of the novel structure. In the main topic, we look at the aesthetic structure of sound in narrative development, paying attention to the rhetorical situation in which the ‘listening’ phases of the characters in the work are depicted as important. Chapter 2 reveals the dynamics of the wind as a medium that combines sound and scenery to form a Soundscape. Chapter 3 analyzes the aspect of the Soundscape of the shower rain, focusing on the situation in which the shower rain falls and the situation in which it stops. Soundscape is not ‘visible Scenery’ but ‘hearing Scenery.’ In Soundscape, listeners are always assumed, so a common relationship between the sound subject and the listener is formed to realize a sense of being together. Since the inner composition of the novel contains this relationship and effect, Soundscape is a rhetorical device that has the dynamic power to create the senses and psychology of the person in the work, the reader's imagination, the structure and narrative of the novel, and can encompass theme consciousness. Therefore, the Soundscape provides a point where the negativity of the motif of selling wire, which was ethically problematic in existing studies, can be reconsidered at the aesthetic level.
