This study examined the effect of the working environment of the elderly on depression by type of social job. To analyze this, we used the ‘2022 Senior Employment and Social Activity Support Program in Korea’, and divided the types of social jobs into public and market jobs, and confirmed the effect of each working environment on depression through multiple regression analysis. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, in both public and market jobs, depression significantly decreased as the working conditions and physical environment among the working environments improved. Second, in public jobs, the physical environment had a greater influence than the working conditions, and in market jobs, the working conditions had a greater influence than the physical environment. Third, in both public and market jobs, depression significantly decreased as the subjective health status and economic status of the individual improved. Based on the results, this study discussed ways to improve the working environment and strengthen the qualitative aspects of social jobs.
