초록
The purpose of this study is to empirically confirm the perception of the factors considered by lesbian, gay and bisexual clients in decision making for participation in counseling. To do this, we used the Concept Mapping method to confirm the participants' perceptions visibly sexual minorities(LGB). First, 18 sexual minority(LGB) subjects were interviewed and the data of considered factors when they decided to participate in counseling were collected. Based on the results, we asked the participants to classify the similarity and assess the importance level with 43 statements. The conception of counseling participation decision factors of 18 sexual minority subjects was derived after multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis from a total of 18 classification data. The result suggested following two dimensions: 1) General competencies in counseling vs. Counseling competencies for sexual minority clients, and 2) Inner personality of counselor/counseling center vs. External personality of counselor/counseling center. The following five clusters were also suggested: 1) The basic attitude of counselor to the client, 2) Positive cognition of the counselor as an expert, 3) Counselor's perception and attitude toward sexual minority, 4) Counselor/counseling center that is capable to counsel sexual minorities, and 5) Physical and psychological accessibility of counselor/counseling center. As a result of the importance evaluation, sexual minorities(LGB) considered ‘Counselor’s perception and attitude toward sexual minority’, ‘The basic attitude of counselor to the client’, ‘Positive cognition of the counselor as an expert’ as the most important cluster. Based on the results the implications of sexual minority clients counseling in the future were discussed.
