초록
This study aims to identify the multiple intelligence (MI) characteristics of next-generation gifted entrepreneur university students and to qualitatively explore their practical career counseling needs. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the study involved 56 undergraduate students who completed programs at the KAIST IP Gifted Entrepreneur Education Center or the POSTECH Gifted Entrepreneur Education Center. Participants first completed the AI-Based Multiple Intelligence Test (AI-MIT) to generate standardized profiles, the results of which subsequently informed the qualitative multi-case study of their in-depth career counseling. The quantitative findings revealed that the participants demonstrated significant strengths in linguistic, logical-mathematical, and intrapersonal intelligences. However, an internal imbalance within intrapersonal intelligence was observed, characterized by high self-design but relatively low self-understanding competencies. Furthermore, physical and naturalistic intelligences emerged as relative vulnerabilities when compared to their exceptional cognitive strengths. Qualitatively, despite their high achievement orientation and self-directedness, the students experienced pervasive career uncertainty, relational challenges in collaborative settings, and physical burnout. Accordingly, their career counseling needs were categorized into four distinct domains: support for self-understanding-based career design, enhancement of socio-emotional relational competencies, support for collaborative skills, and sustainable career development. This study highlights the critical necessity of providing integrated socio-emotional interventions and transitional career support tailored to the unique developmental and psychological characteristics of gifted entrepreneur university students.
