In contemporary society, individuals assume responsibility for themselves and endeavor to crave an independent life through their autonomous decision-making. Simultaneously, they must seek a narrative of love to shield themselves from the anxieties and wounds inflicted by love. 《My Liberation Notes》delves into the narratives of ‘liberation (Haebang)’ and ‘worship(chuang)’, providing a heterotopian imagination that prompts contemplation on the lives and modes of existence of contemporary individuals, thereby reflecting on new ways of existence. In a contemporary capitalist society that infinitely exploits human labor and emotions, the narrative of ‘liberation’ pursued by struggling individuals transcends the hopeless dystopian imagination or the utopian imagination of escaping to a world of inaction, and seeking a tangible solution, here and now. The narrative of ‘worship’ explores the possibility of restoring pure relationship in an era of emotional capitalism where even love itself has been commodified. Moreover, within the backdrop of a Korean society that can not be free from familism, it presents an alternative imagination that navigates the restoration of authentic love and a new form of family through the narrative of love with a divorced man.
