초록
This study aimed to promote the stable family reunification among runaway and homeless youth(RHY) through a structured intervention with longitudinal follow-up, exploring changes in family relationships and recovery processes in depth to inform tailored intervention strategies. Twelve youths temporarily residing in shelters were recruited based on assessed need, feasibility of reunification, and willingness to repair family relationships. Participants received the TSL family therapy program(Kim, 2023), adapted to the characteristics of RHY. The program comprised ten one-to-one counseling sessions, followed by a three-month post-intervention follow-up with data collected over approximately six months per participant. Data were analyzed using constructivist grounded theory, including categorization, process analyses, and typological analyses. The recovery trajectory was conceptualized into four stages: (1) Trigger and Separation, (2) Crisis and Deterioration, (3) Transitional Shelter Life, and (4) Healing and Recovery. Across three dimensions -internalization of forgiveness, recovery speed, and process variability- three recovery types emerged: Stable-Recovery, Resistant-Recovery, and Persistent-Confusion. Moving beyond perspectives that assess recovery solely by physical reunification, This study empirically delineates intra- and interpersonal changes across pre-/post-runaway and recovery phases. The findings highlight the need for type-specific intervention strategies and more nuanced policy support to facilitate sustainable family recovery among RHY.
