The purpose of this study is to study nail design that applied chinoiserie art style expression applied to European styles and tastes by accepting Chinese unique symbols and designs that appeared in Europe from the 17th century. The research problem, first, analyzes the art forms of chinoiserie. Second, the motif is extracted based on the chinoiserie form. Third, five nail art works in total were produced based on the motif of design elements each from pottery, architecture, painting, tapestry, and furniture. The research methods included books, academic publications, and overseas museum websites which can examine the history of chinoiserie art. The results of the study are as follows: First, the analysis of the chinoiserie art style showed that not only France but also the surrounding countries of Europe combined the splendor and Oriental mysteries of the French Rococo era with various lives and gained sensational popularity. Second, as a result of analyzing design elements and characteristics by extracting motifs based on the chinoiserie style, it was able to derive natural, harmonious, and decorative properties. Third, the design elements were extracted through the motifs extracted and designed in nature, costumes, traditional patterns, and colorful decorations. Through this study, it was found that the chinoiserie was expressed in harmony with the East, not the art style developed by specifying China.
