This study aims to investigate the effect of singing-centered telehealth music therapy based on self-compassion on the psychological well-being and emotional state of caregivers of school-age children with developmental disabilities. The subjects of the study were 26 caregivers of school-age children with developmental disabilities, with 13 people randomly assigned to each experimental group and the control group. The experimental group received singing-centered telehealth music therapy based on self-compassion for 50 minutes per session, once a week, for five weeks. No intervention was provided for the control group. The Korean Psychological Well-Being Scale (K-PWBS) was used to determine changes in psychological well-being, while the Korean version of the Positive Affect Negative Affect Scale-Revised (K-PANAS-R) was used to assess changes in emotional state. Both groups performed pre-post tests on the same scale. The results of the study are as follows. First, the psychological well-being score of the experimental group was significantly improved. Second, the negative emotions of the experimental group were significantly decreased. These findings are meaningful in that they can be used as primary data for the development and application of programs for the psychological health of caregivers of children with developmental disabilities.
