This study aims to analyze the structural characteristics of corps de ballet patterns in Act II of the classical ballet Swan Lake. To achieve this, a qualitative research method was employed, combining literature review and video analysis. The analysis focused on selected scenes from the Bolshoi Ballet performance in which corps de ballet movements are prominently presented in Act II. The analytical framework consisted of synchrony, repetition, formation, and movement pathways, and each element was systematically examined to understand the structure of movement within the corps de ballet. The findings are as follows. First, synchrony was identified as a key element in creating collective unity through the alignment of dancers’ movements. Second, repetition contributed to the formation of rhythmic structure and temporal order through the continuous execution of identical movements. Third, formation established visual structure and spatial order through arrangements such as linear and circular patterns, while maintaining stage balance without interfering with the movements of principal dancers. Fourth, movement pathways appeared as a combination of linear and circular movements, functioning to deconstruct and reconstruct formations, thereby generating spatial expansion and flow. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the corps de ballet in Act II of Swan Lake functions not merely as a background element but as a core structural component of the performance. This study is significant in that it suggests the potential for expanding dance research from a structural perspective.
