In this study, the effects of ADHD symptoms, attention deficit, and hyperactivity-impulsiveness, and Sluggish Cognitive Tempo (SCT) on internalization and externalization issues and academic and social functions were verified for children in welfare facilities. The study target was 378 children (Male:232 / Female:146) who participated in the 'Child Welfare Association & Ministry for Health and Welfare' (2013 and 2014), and the data were analyzed as hierarchical regression. The results of the study are as follows: First, the SCT's influence on the internalization problem of depression and anxiety symptoms with controlled ADHD symptoms was significant, and the relative influence of SCT was greater than that of ADHD symptoms, hyperactivity-impulsiveness. Second, the SCT's influence on the extroversion symptom, aggression, was not significant with controlled ADHD symptoms, and hyperactivity-impulsiveness had a significant impact on aggression. Third, the SCT's influence on academic functions under ADHD symptoms was not significant, and ADHD symptoms, such as attention deficit and hyperactivity-impulsiveness had an effect significantly on academic functions. Fourth, the impact of SCT on social functions when ADHD symptoms were controlled was significant but lower than attention deficit. The results of this study confirmed the independent impact of SCT on depression, anxiety and internalization of social functions. This suggests that appropriate intervention is necessary with the consideration of the characteristics of ADHD symptoms, attention deficit, hyperactivity-impulsivity, and SCT symptoms.
