Work Adjustment Profiles and Their Determinants Among Early-Career College Graduates: A Latent Profile Analysis

초록

This study identified work adjustment profiles among early-career college graduates using latent profile analysis (LPA) and examined the factors associated with each profile. Drawing on data from the 2021 Youth Panel (Wave 3, 2023), a sample of 495 wage workers was analyzed, and profiles were identified based on the Theory of Work Adjustment (TWA). Three distinct profiles emerged: the Satisfaction–Fulfillment Harmony Type, the Satisfaction–Fulfillment Compromise Type, and the Maladjustment Type. The Harmony Type exhibited the highest level of adjustment, particularly in terms of self-development and employment stability. The Compromise Type demonstrated a moderate level of adjustment but experienced difficulties in aligning technical skill levels with job demands. The Maladjustment Type showed consistently low scores across all indicators reflecting substantial mismatches in education skills, and field of study. These findings offer important implications for the development of workplace adjustment policies aimed at supporting young adults in the early stages of their careers.
