This study examines record and analyze the history of beauty industry and beauty education and through this, it is meaningful to establish the value and identity of beautician and to provide basic data for beauty research. For this purpose, collected data mainly narrative interview with a Korean beauty master as a convenience sampling. The results of this study are as follows. First, there are gender and period differences in the opportunity to enter the beauty industry. Currently, beauty education has reached the level of higher education, but in the past, the emphasis was focused on technical education in addition, opportunities for education have been concentrated in Seoul. Second, the beauty industry began to attract attention in the 1970s as the standard of living in Korea increased. In particular, the hair salon in Myeong-dong, Seoul, is a consumption space for female customers, indicating that the beauty industry contributed to the trend, economic development and circulation. Third, the development of the Korea beauty industry from the 1980s has been accompanied by voluntary beauty education. Educated in Japan and Europe, that has had a positive effect on the Korean beauty industry and beauty education. Fourth, beauty masters can be recognized for their achievements and value by having expertise in both technical, teaching, service and business aspects.
