This study aimed to improve the understanding surrounding the meaning of lived experiences of child-counselors while they were engaged in conducting Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT). The author attempted to display the raw experiences of three experienced child counselors by performing in-depth interviews. The participants started CPRT with an expectation that this would represent a new challenge to them as counselors. They experienced and underwent the CPRT process as a form of play improvisation. They experienced learning the knowledge of counseling with their body and they also perceived the importance of self-care of counselor. And they also perceived the importance of self-care of counselor. The author was able to extract three essential meanings which followed on from the main themes. The participants could obtain an ‘experience of accomplishment’ by completing the CPRT course and realized the importance of ‘self-care’ from this experience. They also better understood and were able to celebrate the fact that they are becoming a sufficiently ‘good enough counsellor’ while being able to recognize and accept the reality that they man not be perfect. In this study, the authors elucidated the meaning of the experiences in the maturing of the counselors while they undertook the CPRT course and expect that these results may contribute to understanding the professional growth of the counselors concerned.
