The Venezuelan orchestra education program has been adopted eagerly in Korea. It is increasing with financial support by various levels of government and related ministries. However, there has been lack of comprehensive evaluation on the effect of those programs especially form the recipient side. Since El Sistema is a socially oriented music education, it is expected that evaluation framework reflect those social objectives. This paper proposes possible structure of evaluating orchestra education program in Korean case where social objective is pronounced in a vague manner. Selected indicators has been measured in a group of students who participate in a similar program in nonprofit private organization. The result shows that orchestra education effect on improving relationship with friend and family, willingness of cooperate with others, which are measure of social aspect of education, were insignificant. This could serve as a data to discuss about the effectiveness of orchestra education in contra conventional music education, considering the amount of public fund that is streamed into the program with its alleged social role.
