The effect of positive parental parenting attitudes on career preparation behavior is well known, but the specific psychological process through which it goes through is not known. Therefore, this study aims to verify the sequential double mediation effect of career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity in the relationship between positive parental parenting attitudes and career preparation behavior. To this end, an online survey was conducted with 323 female middle school students nationwide, and the sequential double mediation effect was analyzed using the PROCESS macro. The results of the analysis showed that first, there was a significant correlation between positive parental parenting attitudes, career decision-making self-efficacy, career maturity, and career preparation behaviors. Second, positive parental parenting attitudes had a significant indirect effect on career preparation behaviors sequentially through career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity. These findings suggest that positive parental parenting attitudes influence career preparation behaviors through a sequential process involving career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity. These results suggest the need for interventions on career decision-making self-efficacy and career maturity in counseling settings to promote middle school students' career preparation behaviors.
