This study aims to examine the effects of a music psychotherapy program on elementary school students’ mental fitness, mind-reading, and mindfulness. The study involved 508 students from 26 classes across grades 1 to 6 at 11 schools affiliated with the ○○ Office of Education in Seoul, and data from 428 participants were ultimately analyzed. The music psychotherapy program was conducted in eight sessions for all students in the relevant classes at each school, from October 17 to November 28, 2024. To measure participants’ mental fitness, mind-reading, and mindfulness, the Mental Fitness Scale, the Mind-Reading Scale, and the Korean version of the Cognitive and Affective Mindfulness Scale-Revised were used. The data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests in SPSS 28.0. The results showed statistically significant differences in students’ mental fitness, mind-reading, and mindfulness before and after participating in the music psychotherapy program. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of the music psychotherapy program in improving elementary school students’ mental fitness, mind-reading, and mindfulness.
