초록
This study aimed to develop and validate a scale measuring impostor phenomenon among college students in academic and evaluation contexts. To develop the scale, initial items were generated based on a literature review and an open-ended survey with nine college students. Content validity was assessed by three experts, exploratory factor analysis was conducted with a sample of 350 college students. The final scale was established through confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and tests of convergent and criterion validity using data from 487 college students. The results were as follows. First, the College Students’ Impostor Phenomenon Scale consisted of two factors with a total of 20 items: a cognitive factor of ‘Ability Underestimation and External Attribution’ with 10 items and an emotional factor of ‘Exposure Anxiety and Perceived Fraudulence’ with 10 items. Second, the scale demonstrated high internal consistency. Third, convergent validity was supported, and significant positive correlations were found with Clance Imposter Phenomenon Scale, test anxiety, and self-oriented perfectionism, supporting criteion-related validity. Overall, the findings suggest that the scale provides empirical evidence for the psychological characteristics and structural components of impostor phenomenon within the unique achievement context of college students. The scale may serve as a useful assessment tool in counseling and educational settings related ti academic achievement, adjustment, and mental health among college students.
