As South Korea rapidly transitions into a super-aged society, the challenges associated with early retirement among employees of large corporations are becoming more pressing. In this context, the need for systematic corporate career consulting has grown substantially, as such services can support workers in navigating retirement transitions more effectively. The purpose of this study is to examine institutional strategies for developing career consulting systems tailored to the realities of Korean large enterprises. To achieve this, the study draws on an in-depth review of Japan’s “Self-Career Doc” initiative, which provides regular career diagnosis and counseling within firms. It compares it with career development policies in the United States, Australia, Singapore, and France. By analyzing these diverse cases, the research identifies key design principles, operational models, and policy mechanisms that can be applied in the Korean context. The study further emphasizes the necessity of institutionalizing continuous career counseling, establishing comprehensive personal career databases, and introducing integrated career management systems. It also argues for stronger government involvement in providing structural support, while encouraging companies to develop customized career management strategies. Ultimately, this study seeks to promote successful retirement transitions for employees, contribute to the institutionalization of lifelong career development, and foster an environment where active aging and sustainable labor force participation become achievable goals.
