This study aimed to investigate the current status of video supervision in play therapy and to identify factors affecting satisfaction with it empirically. The study sample consisted of 98 play therapists with experience in video supervision. Data were collected using the ‘Video Supervision Status Survey Questionnaire,’ the ‘Supervision Session Evaluation Questionnaire(SSEQ),’ and the ‘Supervisory Satisfaction Questionnaire(SSQ).’ The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and chi-square tests. The results of this study are as follows. First, video supervision was confirmed to be continuously employed even after the end of the pandemic, establishing itself as a training method that can be used concurrently with, or as a supplement, to in-person supervision. Second, the most powerful predictor of satisfaction with video supervision was the ‘supervisory relationship.’ ‘Experiential resources,’ such as the supervisee’s counseling experience and in-person supervision experience, also significantly predicted satisfaction with video supervision. In contrast, technical and environmental factors did not significantly affect satisfaction. Third, regarding the use of supervision materials, only the availability of session audio recordings showed a significant difference in satisfaction levels between the high- and low-satisfaction groups. These findings suggest that even in a video environment, the ‘supervision relationship’ and the supervisee’s ‘experiential readiness’ remain key determinants of supervision within video supervision. This study is significant in that it proposes the need for a relationship-centered approach and the development of strategies that consider the supervisee’s developmental stage to improve the quality of video supervision.
