A Qualitative Study on Quality of Successful Korean Dance Instructors

The purpose of this study was to analyze factors for quality of dance recognized by successful dance instructors. For this, a researcher carried out the interview with 7 instructors who teach korean dance at high school and university and interview transcripts were analyzed inductively. As a result of the analysis of the interview data, 277 raw data was categorized into 18 sub-division which were the basis of dance, showing an example, dance techniques, dance theory, creativity, observation, expressive power, an attitude of research, passion, preparation for a class, experience, human relationship, affection, trust, understanding personal characteristics and educational philosophy and into six general division which were expertise, artistry, self-development, psychological strategies, interpersonal relations and coaching and management. These results were discussed in terms of providing useful information about quality of dance for dance instructors and some future studies were suggested.
