This study has intended to elicit the appropriate evaluation indicators of Special Tourism Zone in Korea. The method used for this study was content analysis, and 27 evaluation indicators in the country were selected for analysis. Analyses were conducted focusing on the type(Urban, Waterside, Hot spring, Mountain,Culture, Complex type) and basic elements(Tourism Planner, Infra structure, Inter structure,Superstructure) of Special Tourism Zone. The major findings of this study were as follows. 1) There is no relation between STZ’s type and indicator. An example for the Waterside type, Boryeong and Haeundae tourism zone are evaluated by different indicators. Meanwhile, Mt. Sorak(Mountain type) and Haeundae(Waterside type) are evaluated by same indicator. 2) There are some notable omissions and uneven distribution according to basic elements. To make up the basic elements, a delphi survey was conducted twice among 28 professionals. The proposed basic indicator elements will contribute in examining STZ‘s basic factors. In addition, new evaluation indicators by the type should be developed.
